Profitability & Productivity at PRO–TEC:
This small–business has been profitable for the past 12 years with sales reaching $846 million in 2006. Revenue per associate has continuously improved, demonstrating industry leadership at approximately $4 million per associate, nearly 4x the Industry Week 90th percentile benchmark of slightly more than $1 million per associate.
Improving Patient Health at Sharp Healthcare:
Heart attack mortality at the three Sharp hospitals having heart programs has either met or been lower than the national benchmark since 2004. The economic value of Sharp’s services to their community, which includes charity care, uncompensated and under–compensated care, staff volunteer hours, and free preventive health offerings such as flu shots, lectures, and screenings increased from $100 million in 2001 to more than $180 million in 2006.
Growth Against the Tide at Branch–Smith Printing:
A fourth–generation, family–owned business, with 70 employees experienced a 72% growth in sales over four years while the printing industry declined 6.6%.
Pal’s Sudden Service Beats up McDonald’s:
This quick–service restaurant chain with about 460 employees, increased employee sales per hour while employee turnover rate was less than half the national average—their direct competitor is McDonald’s.
Effective Schools at Community Consolidated School District 15:
Show 84% of their second grade students are reading at or above grade level—nearly 35% above the national average.
Teacher Turnover Reduced at Jenks Public Schools:
Having dropped from 11% the year before, which is still lower than the national average of 20% for both those years.
Chugach School District :
CSD is not your typical school district. It encompasses 22,000 square miles in south central Alaska. Most of its 214 students live in remote areas that are accessible only by aircraft. Yet results on the California Achievement Test rose dramatically in reading from the 28th percentile in 1995 to the 71st; in math from 54th to 78th; and in language arts from 26th to 72nd.
